RESOLUTION UF THE CilUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION UF A MEMURANUUM OF UNUER-
STANDING RF.GARDING DISSOLUTION OF THE NURTH SAMTA
CLARA COUNTY SULIU WASTE MANAGEMl:::NT AUTH01UTY
WHEREA~, on July 1, 1982 the cities of Palo Alto, Cupertino,
Sunnyvale, Los Altos and the town of Los Altos Hills entered into an
agreement pursuant to the Joint Exercise of Powers Act (Government Code
Section 6500) creating the North Santa Clara County Solid Waste Manage-
ment Authority ("AuthorityN) and this agreement was subsequently amend-
ed to include the Co~nty of Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, saic:t agreement provided that the parties would pursue
certain objectives in connection with respect to joint exercise of the
common powers of the parties related to the disposition and management
of solid waste; and
WHEREAS, the parties now wish to dissolve the Authority created by
the aforesaid Joint Powers Agreement and dispose of the assets and
satisfy all known liabilities of the authority as required by law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Palo
;.lto that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute that certain agree-
nent entitled •Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Dissolution of the
North Santa Clara County Solid waste Management Authority City of
Cupertino, City of Los Altos, City of the Town of Los Altos Hills, City
of Pa lo Al to, City of Sunnyvale and County of Santa Clara" dated for
convenience March 31, 1984 which prov ides for the dissolution of the
authority, disposition of its assets and satisfaction of its liabili-
ties.
