HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6241"' ORIGINAL ~ESOLUTION NO. 6241 RESOLUTION OP THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A CLAIM WITH THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMSNT ACT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1984-85 The Counci 1 of the City of Palo Al to does RESOLVE as fol- lows: WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act (~TDA"), as amended (Public Utilities Code Sect ion 99 200 et. seq.), prov ides for the disbursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund of the County of Santa Clara for use by eligible claimants for the purpose of providing community transit services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the TOA, as amended, and pursuant to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 Cal. Adrnin. Code section 6600 et. seq.), a prospective claim- ant wishing to receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Fund sha 11 file its claim with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission; and WHEREAS~ the City of Palo Alto is an eligible claimant for TDA funds, pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section 99275 as ex- pressed in the City of Palo Alto's opinion of counsel dated March 19, 1984; and WHEREAS, TOA funds from the Local Transportation Fund of Santa Clara County will be required in fiscal year 1984-85 to pro- vide subsidized taxi service for low income, elderly, and handi- capped persons who are unable to uRe public transit and cannot drive automobiles: NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereb1· approves and a ut.hor i zes the City Manager to execute and file an appropriate claim together with all necessary supporting documents, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for an allocation of TDA funds in fiscal year 1984-85 to continue the existing paratransit program known as Project Mobility. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to tra~~mit a copy of this resolution to the Metropolitan Transportation Commis- sion in conjunction with the filing of the claim; and the Metropo- litan Transportation commission is requested to concur in these findings and grant the allocations of funds as specified herein. SECTION 3. The Council finds that the adoption ot this reso- lution does not constitute a project as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act or Title II of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
