RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
CHARLES WILLIAM CHALLENGER
UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Charles Wi1liam Cn3l~?nger na~ ~erved the City of
Palo Alto as Fire Captain from October 26, 1961 through December
6, 1964, as Battalion Chief from December 7, 1964 through December
29, 1983 in the Palo Alto Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Charles William Challenger has pursued his duties
for the safety of our citizens with enthusiasm, thoroughness,
common sense, fairness, compassion and courtesy; and
WHEREAS, Charles William Challenger has
in Fire Department programs such as fire
modifications, vehicle specifications, high
training and hazardous materials; and
taken an active part
station design and
rise fire tactics,
WHEREAS, through the efforts and contributions of Charles
William Challenger. the City continues to occupy a position of
respect in terms of emergency services provided to its citizens by
the City Fire Department; and
WHERE.A.S, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the
meritorious service of Charles William Challenger.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City
of Palo A 1 to hereby commends the outs ta ndi ng public service of
Charles William Challenger and records its appreciation as well as
the dppreciation of the citizens of this community for the service
and contribution rendered during his 22 years of employment with
the City.
