RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE INTER!~ REPORT
OF THE NEW PARTNERSHIP TASK FORCE ON STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, the need for stability and predictability in City-State
financial relationships is of great importance1 and
WHEREAS, legislative decisions durinq the past several years have
created a great deal of uncertainty from year to year concerning local
government revenues; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto joined with the League of
california Cities assembled in Annual Conference, Cctober 5, 1983, in
establishing as its clear number one priority a long-term solution to
the current dilemma of local government fin&ncing; and
WHEREAS, the New Partnership Task 1brce on State and Local Government
has developed recommendations based on the qoals of stability,
efficiency, local control, ano a balanced partnership between the State
and local government; therefore
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the council of the City of Palo Alto
supporta the recommendations of the Interim Report of the New
Partnership Task Pbrce on State and Local Goverrunent, as they apply to
cities, and urges the Legislature and the Adlainistration to work
together to acc0111plish long-term local government financing in 1984.
