HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6166RESOLUTION 6166 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO RECOGNIZING TiiE ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PALO ALTO EMPLOYEE CORPORATE CUP TRACK TEAM (PACESETTERS) AND CONGRATULATING THEril ON THEIR SUCCESS IN THE 1983 CORPORATE CUP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WHERFAS, the City of Palo Alto Pacesetters took first place in the Regional Championships and went on to take first place in the National Championshi~s; and WHEREAS. there ~re twenty-three teams competf ng 1n the A division and the Palo Alto Pacesetters were awarded five silver medals and one bronze medal; and WHEREAS, the Palo Alto team was composed of thirty-four runners and four pit crew members made up from all City departments; and WHEREAS. the Palo Alto Pacesetters have competed in the Corporate Cup events for the past seven years. this being the f1 rst year the team pl aced number one in the Regional and National Championships. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. That the Counci 1 recognizes the outstanding performance of the Pa 1 o Alto Pacesetters Corporate Cup Team in the Regional and Nat1ona· Championships and, in particular, recognizes their contribution to adult physical fitness and employee mor·ale. SECTION 2. That this Council. on behalf of the people of Palo Alto, expresses its congratulations to the Palo Alto Pacesetters for their extraordinary success. and wishes them even greater success 1n next year's Corporate Cup Relays.
