HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6139ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. ~~39 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PALO ALTO APPROVING THE SPECIAL JOBS BILL COMMUNITY DEVELOP- MENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, on March 24, 1983, Public Law 98-8, known as the Jobs Bill, was approved by the President of the United States: and WHEREAS, $250 Million of funds were appropriated by this legisla- tion to local Community Development Block Grant Pr09rams to be used as rapidly as possible to fund worthwhile projects resulting in productive jobs especially for the unemployed1 and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is entitled to $229,000 of these funds1 and WHEREAS, potential uses of these funds have 1 ight of the 9oals of the Federal program and the community and the recommendations and comments Citizens' Advisory Committee~ and been evaluated in needs of the local of the Palo Alto ~HBRBAS, the Finance and Public Works Committee and the City Council have held advertised public hearings on the Statement on Com- munity Development and Jobs Bill Objectives and Projected Use of Funds: NOW, TBEREPORE, the Council Of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereby adopts the use of Special Jobs Bill funds for the--following programs: 1. Home Health Aides for Recuperative Child Care (Palo Alto Community Child Care) 2. RJI Expansion Program (Retirement Jobs, Inc.) 3. Colorado Park Apartments (Lexington Associates, Inc.) 4. Housing Improvement Pro9ram (City of Palo Alto Plannin~ Department) 5. Long Term Care Project (Senior Adults Legal Assistance) 6. Resurface Parking Lot (Palo Alto Senior Housing) $ 21,120 20,000 9,060 37,590 15,480 21,000 , 7. Curb Ramps for the Handicapped $ 5,000 (City of Palo Alto Public Works Department) 8. Additional Support Staff for Lytton Gardens I and 11 12,310 (Community Housing, Inc.) 9. The Council hereby authorizes City staff to submit the ~ppropr1ate application forms for Jobs Bill funds, with such funds to ·'be used as indicated in the adopted program; and hereby authorizes the Mayor, the City Manager, and other appropriate City officials to sign the application forms when necessary. SECTION 3. The Council finds that none of the provisions of this resolution will have a ~ignificant adverse environmental impact.
