RESOLUTION NO. 6 13 7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
PRELIMINARILY DETERMINING INTENTION TO UNDERTAKE
PROCEEDINGS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF OVERHEAD WITH UNDERGROUND
DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES PURSUANT TO UTILITY RULE AND
REGULATION NC. 12-A OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
Th~ C,ty Council of the City of Pa1o Alto does RESOLVE that:
SECTION 1. Utt 1 i ty Rule and Regulation No. 12-A of the Clty of Pa lo
Alto wh1ch is effective until July 1. 1983, provides for the replacement of
overhead w1th underground utiltty dtstr1but1on fatilit1es wHhin the CHy of
Palo Alto;
SECTION 2. Pursuant to satd Rule 12-A, the costs of the accomplfshment
of said replacement are shared on the basis of the City of Palo Alto pay\ng
75i of such costs and the owners of property affected and benef1 tted by sa1 d
relocation replacement paying the rema\n1ng 251.;
SECTION 3. Applications in the form of signed pet1t1ons from persons
owning 60t or more of the pr1vately owned front footage have b~en recef ved by
the C1ty of Palo Alto for the following areas:
a. the 700 block of Loma Verde Avenue;
b. the 100 and 200 blocks, 1nclus1ve. of Cambrtdge
Avenue Cfrom 81rch Street to Park Boulevard>; and
c. the 2400 through 3200 blocks, 1nclus1ve. of Park
Boulevard <from Ca11forn\a Avenue to Laallbert Avenue>
and the 100 and 200 blocks, 1nclus1ve, of Page M11l Road <from Btrch Street to Park Boulevard>.
SECTION 4. Each of the foregoing areas constitutes more than one block
or 600 feet; the replacements of said overhead fac1l 1t1es are in the general
publtc interest but are primarily of local benef1t to each of said areas and
1t ts the 1ntent1on of th1s City Counc11 to constder the adoptton of
appropriate ordtnances amending the Municipal Code of th1s C1ty to provide for
the creation of underground ut111 ty distr1 cts for each of sat d areas to
acc011P11sh the replacements of said fac111tles under sa\d Rule 12-A.
SECTION 5. It is the prel1m\nary 1ntent1on of th1s C1ty Counc'1 to
cause appropriate proceedings to be 1ntttated for the cons1derat1on of sa1d
replacements upon the1r 1nd1vidua1 merits and the assessment of the costs

thereof punuant to the formula of sa~d cost sharfn9 formula as expressed tn
sa1d Rule 12-A although said proceedtngs and assessments may not be
accomplished on or before expiration date of sa1d Rule whfch 1s July 1. 1983,
because the appl1cat1ons as set forth above have been received in a timely
manner. to w1t: before July 1. 1983 .
