~£SOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALU ALTO
EXPK£SS1Nu APPRECIATION TO l"EM~ERS OF TH£ AD HOC COMMITTEE
ON THE CITY'S FINANCIAL STRUCTURE
WHrnEAS, on February 7, 1983, the Palo Alto City Council directed Mayor Betsy
Bechtel to appoint an Ad Hoc Committee to study the City's Financial Structure and the
Council appointed position of City Controller; and
WHE~EAS) on February 23, 1983, Mayor Betsy Bechtel announced that the following
persons had graciously consented to serve on the Ad Hoc Committee to study the City 1 s
Financial Structure; George Abbott, lJudley Andersen, Owen Goldfarb, Larry Hootnid,
~ugene O'Sullivan, frank Patitucci, Lanie Wheeler; and
WHEREAS, Frar.k Patitucci agreed to be Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee; and
WHrnt::A~, the Ad Hoc Co11111ittee met weekly during the weeks of March and April,
19~3; and
WHEHEA!:>, tne A<l Hoc Committee worked closely with a consultant hired by the City
to survey l~ cities in California; and
WHtREAS, the Ad Hoc Co1111Jittee, chaired by Frank Patitucci, spent many hours
interviewing Council, staff and committee members representing private industry and
evaluating the consultants findings; and
WHtKcAS, oo May 9, 1983, the Ad Hoc Co11111i ttee presented its unanimous
recommenaatior. to the City Council and received the Council's wholehearted support for
the conmittee's findings.
NOW, THl:.RHOl<E, L£T IT BE l{ESULVl:.0, that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto
wishes to express its gratitude lnd appreciation to Coimlittee members George Abbott,
Dudley Andersen, Owen Goldfarb, Larry Hootnick, Eugene O'Sullivan, Lani£ Wheeler and to
Chairman Frank Pat itucci. for vol unteer·i ng their ti me and expertise for the benefit of •
their contnunity and for accomplishing the task assigned to the Ad Hoc Colllllittee on the
City's Financial Structure most efficiently and within the time period requested.
