HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6098ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 6098 RESOLUTION OP THE COUNCIL O~ THE 1!f!y OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING TBE FILING OF A CLAIM WITH THE METRO- POLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1983-84 The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act ("TOA•;, as amended (Public Utilities Code Section 99200 et. seq.), provides for the dis- bursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund of the County of Santa Clara for use by eligible claimants for the purpose of providin~ community transit services7 and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the TOA, as amend<?d, and pursuant to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 Cal. Admin. Code Section 6600 et. seq.), a prospective claimant wishing to receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Fund shall file its claim with the Metropolitan Tra~sportation Commission: and WHEREAS, funds from the Local Transportation Fund of Santa Clara County will be required in fi 3Cal year 1983-84 to provide subsidized taxi service for low income, elderly, and ha>'ldicapped persons who are unable to use public transit and cannot drive automobiles; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute and file an appropriate claim pursuant to the terms of the TDA, as amended, and pursuant to the applicable rules and r~9u­ lations promulgated thereunder; together with all necessary su?portin9 documents, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for an allocation of TDA funds in fiscal year 1983-84 to eontinue the existing paratransit program known as Pt·oject Mobility. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resoiut:ion to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in conjunction with the filing of the claim1 and the Metrcplitan Transportation Commission is requested to concur in these findings and grant the alloc4tions of funds as specified herein. SECTION 3. The Council finds that the adoption of this resolution does not constitute a project as defined by the California Bnviron- me~tal Quality Act 01· Title II of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
