HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 5978• • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 5978 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING TB£ FILING OF A CLAIM WITH THE METRO- POLITAN TRANSPORTATION CO;-!MISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMEN'f ACT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1982-83 WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act (TDA), as amended (Public Utilities Code Sections 99200 et. seq.), provides for the dis- bursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund of the County of Santa Clara for use by eligible claimants for the purpose of providing pedestrian and bicycle facilities: and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of TDA, as amended, and pur- suant to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 California Administrative Code Sections 6600 et. seq.) a prospective claimant wishing to receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Fund shall file its claim with the Metropolitan Transportation Conunission1 and WHEREAS, TOA funds from the Local Transportation Fund of Santa Clara County will be requ.ired by claimant in Fiscal Year 1982-83 for the construction of the follow.:.ng pedestrian/bicy::le projects: ( 1) Palo Alto Avenue/El Camino Real signal modification project, and (2) Baylands Bike Path extension; and WHEREAS, these projects are in accordance with the policy in the Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan to promote bicycle use. · NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute and file an appropriate claim, together with all necessary supporting documents, pursuant to the terms of the TOA as amended and the applicable rules and regulations promulgated there- under, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for One Hundred Twenty-one Thousand Six Hundred Twenty Dollars {$121,620) of fiscal year 1982-83 Transportation Development Act monies. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a co~y of this resolution to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in conjunction with the filing of the claim1 and the Metropolitan Trans- portation Commission is requested to concur in these findings and grant the allocations of funds as specified herein. SECTION 3. The Council finds that the traffic signal modification project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and that the Baylands Bike Path exten- sion was included in the environmental review of the Baylands Master Plan and that no further environmental review is required until the actual path design is completed.
