HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 5962.. • • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 5962 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE--ciTY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL AND COUNCIL APPOINTED OFFICERS AS ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 5833 AND AMENDED BY RESOLUTION NO. 5922 TO ADD A PROVISION FOR HOUSING RELOCATION ASSISTANCE FOR RECRUITMENT OF CERTAIN MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City of Palo Al to is seeking to f i 11 certain management positions including Assistant Director of Utilities and Manager of Energy Planning; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Al to recognizes the severe local housing problem and its potential effec.. on recruitment of City employees; and WHEREAS, discussions with out-of-area candidates positions indicate a clear need for housing relocation and for these assistanceJ WHEREAS, to meet this need on an interim basis, the Council authorizes a limited program which would enable the City Manager to negotiate interest rate differential allowances as part of a reloca- tion package for certain new management employees: NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. Resolution No. 5833 adopting a compensation plan for management personnel and Council appointed officers, as amended by Resolution No. 5922, is hereby further amended to include paragraph L. Interest Rate Differential Allowance as set forth in EXHIBIT "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference. SECTION ~. Except as amended herein, all of the terms and pro- visions of Resolution No. 5833 and Resolution No. 5922 shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. The Council finds that this is not a project under the California Environme~tal Quality Act and, therefore, no environ- mental impact assessment is necessary. Interest Rate Differential Allowance The City Manager is authorized to negotiate as part of the relocation expenses for certain new management employees an interest rate differen- tial allowance based on the formula deveioped under the Federal Uniform Real Property Acquisition and Relocation Policies Act, except that s~ch an allowance will be paid in 36 equal monthly installments of no more than $300 per month and be subject to tennination if the employee voluntarily or otherwise is tenninated from City employment during the 36 month period.
