RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OP"i'Jf! ~ITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING UTILITY RATE ~CHEDULES G-1 AND G-50 AS A
RESULT OP TRACKING PG&E GAS RATE CHANGES
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously adopted Resolution
No. 5863, which authorizes the City Manager to i~plement nondis-
cretionary adjustments to Palo Alto gas rates to reflect wholesale
gas rate increases and to track Pacific Gas and Electric (PG,E)
retail rate schedules G-1, G-2, and G-50: and
WHEREAS, on July 7, 1981, the California Public Utilities
Commission rendered Decision No. 93272 authorizing PG~E to in-
crease its retail rate schedules; and
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1981, the City Manager adjusted revenues
to match and offset these rate changes, and in accordance with
Resolution No. 5863 is required to notify this Council of his
ministerial action;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. This Council finds that the action taken by the
City Manager is in accordance with the provisions of Resolution
No. 5863; that the Palo Alto Gas Rate Schedules G-1 and G-50 shall
substantially conform with those rates contained on PG&E General
Servic~ Rate Schedules G-1, G-2, and G-50f that the effective date
is July 22, 1981: and that in all respects such nondiscretionary
adjustments are approved.
SECTION 2. This Council finds that the revenue derived from
the authorized adjustments of said gas rates by the City Manager
shall be used only for the purposes set forth in the Palo Alto
City Charter, Article VII, Section 2, entitled npublic Utilities
Revenue." The adoption of this resolution is, therefore, speci-
fically exempted under Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(8)
from the requirements of CEQA.
SECTION 3. Pursuant to Section 12.20.010 of the Palo Alto
Municipal COde, Sched,1les G-1 and G-50 of the Palo Alto Utilities
Rates and Charges are amended to read as shown on "Sheets No.
116ba and 1a• attached hereto and incorporated herein.

1. Seasonal rate changes: The lifeline allowances for space heating will be
prorated in the May and November billing periods baeed on the rates of the
number of days prior to May 1 and subsequent to Octc1ber 31 respectiv~ly, to
the total r1umber of days in the billing period.

APPLICABILITY: This ached•.lle applies to interruptible service for customers
'Who hsve alternate fuel standby facilities and whose usage is
classified aa Priorities P3 and P4 according to the California
Public Utilities Cormniesion's Gas Curtailment Priority System.
TERRITORY: Within the service area of the City of Palo Alto and on land
owned or leased by the City.

This charge is for the first 5000 therms per meter per ioonth.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
1. Service under this schedule is subject to discontinuance in whole or in
part in case of actual or anticipated shortage of natural gas resulting
from an insufficient supply, inadequate transmission or delivery capacity
or facilities• or storage requirements. However, the City will attempt to
ninimize disruption by providing adequate not ice prior to curtailment. The
City will not be liable fer damages occasioned by interruption or
discontinuance of service supplied under this schedule.
2. No custom.er shall be entitled to service hereunder unless adequate standby
equipment and fuel are provided and are ready at all times for immediate
operation in the event that the supply of gas hereunder shall be
discontinued in whole or in part.
