HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 5896------------------------------------------------ ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 5896 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING THE FtL.CNG OF A CLAlftt WITH THE METRO- POLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT FONDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1981-1982 WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act ("TOA"), as amended (Public Utilities Code Section 99200 et. seq.), provides for the dis- bursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund of the County of Santa Clara for use by eligible claimants for the purpose of com- rnuni ty transit services1 and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the TOA, as amended, and pursuant to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 Cal. Admin. Code Sections 6600 et. seq.), a prospective claimant wishing to receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Fund shall file its claim with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission; and WHEREAS, funds from the Local Transportation Fund of Santa Clara County will be required in fiscal year 1981-82 to provide subsidized taxi service for low income, elderly, and handicapped who are unable to use public transit and cannot drive automobiles7 NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RE- SOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute and file an appropriate claim pursuant to the terms of the Transportation Development Act, as amended, and pursuant to the applicable rules and regulations promulgated thereunder, to- gether with all necessary supporting documents, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for $95,000 in fiscal year 1981-82 Trans- portation Development Act monies. SECTION 2. The ~ity Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resoIUtion to the Metcopolitan Transportation Commission in conjunction with the filing of the claim: and the Metropolitan Trans- portation Commission is requested to concur in these findings and grant the allocations of funds as specified herein. SECTION 3. The Council finds that the adoption of this resolu- tion does not constitute a project as defined by the California Envi- ronmental Quality Act or Title II of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
