RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALO ALTO EXPRESSING CONCERN AND INVOLVE-
MENT WITH THE PEOPLE OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA
DURING THE TRAGIC CRISIS IN THAT CITY
ORIGINAL
WHEREAS, Black children in Atlanta, Georgia are being senselessly
murdered; and
WHEREAS, The cancerous effect of racism in this day is escalating
in the nation; and
WHEREAS, It is imoortant for citizens all across the land to be
involved and to express concern and empathy with the City of Atlanta
and its residents durir.g this tragic time when innocent children
are being subjected to fear and death; and
WHEREAS, On Sunday, April 5, 1981, between 5 and 7:30 p.m. at the
YWCA in Palo Alto, community leaders--both black and white--and
citizens of this community will join in expression of their concerns
at a candlelight vigil.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto records its concern and involvement, as well as the concern
and involvement of the citizens of the community, for the people
of Atlanta and the families of the victims.
