RESOLUTION OF 1~E COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
CLOSING CASTILLEJA AVENUE TO MOTOR VEHICLES
AT PARR BOULEVARD (EXCEPT EMERGENCY VEHICLES)
WHEREAS, City staff has performed a traffic study of the
Southgate and Evergreen Park neighborhoods which confirms substan-
tial throuqh traffic on Mariposa and Castilleja Avenues, and on
Birch Street1 and
WHEREAS, Transportation Policy 3A of the Comprehensive Plan,
revised February 2, 1981, urges the reduction of through traffic
in residential neiqhborhoods: and
WHEREAS, !l closJre of Castilleja Avenue at Park Boulevard is
being considered to reduce through traffic in the Southgate neigh-
borhood, and on Birch Street in Evergreen Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE a6 follows:
SECTION 1. The temporary traffic barrier on Castilleja
Avenue at Park Boulevard, and the temporary two-way direction of
traffic on Castilleja and Mariposa Avenue, authorized by Council
on November 10, 1980, be made permanent.
SECTION 2. The Council finds that the adoption of this
Resolution will have no significant adverse environmental impact.
