RESOLUTION NO. 6074
RES0LUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF TH.8 SPECIAL MU~ICIPAL
ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 1982
WHB~DAS, on November 2, 1982, the City Council of the City of Palo
Alto, County ot Santa Clara, submitted to the voters ot said City in a
special election which was consolidated with the general election the
tollowing question:
City ot Palo Alto Measure F
Shall the Charter of the City of Palo Alto be
amended to bring Article VI, Section 1, Rec2ll:
Section 2, In1t1ative1 and Section 3, Referendum,
in contormance with certain provisions of state law
relating to form and contents of notice ot inten
tion, attidavit of circulator, and petitions and to
clarify the requirements regarding publ ishiug,
tiling and circulating ot those documents, and to
provide that the City Clerk shall nave titteen
business days to examine recall, i 'li ti at ive and
referendum petitions to ascertain whether they have
been signed by the requisite number ot elect0rs
registered to vote; and extend the period tor sub
mitting initiative and referendum measures to the
voters?

WHEREAS, due and legal notice ot said special election was given
as required by law: and
WHEREAS~ on the second day of November, 1982, at the hour ot seven
o'clock in the morning ot said day, the polls were duly and regularly
opened for said special election in said City and said polls were coa
tinuously kept open tor said purpose from the time they were so opened
until eight o'clock in the evening ot said day; and
WHEREAS, on November 2, 1982, the Council of the City ot Palo Alto
met at its usual place ot meeting and did then and there canvass the
returns ot said special municipal election and declare the results
thereot:
SECTION 1. The Council finds and declares that:
(a) A special election was duly and regularly held on Novemb~r 2,
1982, uccord1n9 to the Charter ot the City of Palo Al to, appl icacle
ordinances of the City, and the election laws of the State ot Cali
to-cn1a.

Recorder of the county of Santa Clara, State of Cali
fornia, do hereby certify that at the General Election
held >n November 2, 1982 a Special Municipal Election
consolidated therewith, was held in the City of Palo
Alto for the purpose of submitting Measure F to the
voters of said City:
That the official canvass of the returns of
said election was conducted by the office of the Regis
trar of Voters in accordance with the appropriate pro
visions of the Elections Code of the State of calif~rnia:
and
That hereto is a full, true and correct
statement of the votes cast at said Special Municipal
Election ..
