RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE C ITV OF PALO AL TO
RECOGNIZING THE ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE
PALO ALTO EMPLOYEE CORPORATE CUP TRACK TEAM (PACESETTERS)
ANO CONGRATULATING THEM ON THEIR SUCCESS IN THE RECENTLY COMPLETED
1982 CORPORATE CUP NATIONAL Ct'IAMPIONS'HP
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto Pacesetters tied for second place ;., the National
Championship and took 3rd place in the Regional Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Al to Pacesetters set two no.ti onal records in the Sprint Relay
and the Women's 800 Meters; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Al to team was composed of forty runners and five pit crew
members made up from al 1 City departments; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Alto Pacesetters have competed in the Corporate Cup events for
t tie past six yea rs, thi s bei ng the fi rst year the team has p 1 aced in the Nat 1ona1 s.
NOW, lliEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Counci 1 recognizes the outstanding performance of the Palo
Alto Pacesetters Corporate Cup Teilll and, in particular, recognizes th(?ir contribution
to adult physical fitness cwid anployee morale.
SECTIOH 2. That this Council, o~ behalf of the people of Palo Alto, expresses its
congratulations to the ?al o Al to Pacesetters for their extraordinary success r· and
wishes them even greater success 1n next year's Corporate Cup Relays.
