RESOtUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY Of PALO Al TO
RECOGNIZING GAREY T. MILLS
FOR EXTRAOROINAkY ACTS OF BRAVERY
ORIGINAL
WHEREAS, Garey Mills of Palo Alto displayed outrtand1ng acts of bravery by
risking his own 1 ife to save those of others to evacuate residents from a burning
apartment complex; and
WHEREAS, he eodar.gered his CMn 1i fe to phys1 ca11y carry an apartment res1 dent
to safety who because of shock, smoke inhal at1on, was unable to ~scape the burning
i.>uilding; and
WHEREAS, he· returned to the bcil ding to alert the other tenants 1 n the apartment
unit ~ho were home and al so :a 11 ed the fire department.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Counci 1 of the City of Palo Alto does
resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the Council acknowledge the extraordinary acts of bravery of
Mr. Hillls in risking his own life to save those of others.
Section 2. That the Counci 1 on behalf of the people of Palo Alto offers its
highest co1J111endation to Hr. Mills for his outstandiniJ coura~e.
