RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
IN SUPPORT OF KTEH AND ITS PRESENTATION OF THE
"ANNIE" PREMIERE BENFFIT

WHEREAS, KTEH-lV Cha~~el 54 in San Jose is one of Cal1forn1a's twelve public
television stations; and
WHEREAS, since 1964, KTEH has consisten' .. ly provided high quality programs
designed specifically to meet the needs of its viewing community; and
WHEREAS, KTEH's outstanding record of service to the South Bay area incldes
broadcastin~ a full daytime schedule of instructional progr~ms, funded by the
station·s license holder--the Santa Clara County Board of Eo· ~tion--and used by
Elenentary, Junior High, and High Schools throughout the County; and
WHEREAS. KTEH acquires and broadcasts such highly acclaimed programs and series
as NOVA, WALL STREET WEEK, THE MACNEIL/LEHRER REPORT, SESAME STREET, MASTERPIECE
THEATRE, and many others; and
WHEREAS, KTEH has achieved award-winning recognition nationwide for such programs
as TOMORROW/TODAY, the science magazine which captured six cr:1ards including an Emmy
nomination for "Lasers: They Come in All Sizes"; THE DAY AFTER TRINITY--a film whose
list of aNards includes the Prix Italia, the duPont/Columbia Aw~rd, the George Foster
Peabody Sroadcasti ng Award,-and an-oscar nomination; the Emmy award wi nni ng
documentary THE SPIRIT OF ALLD'4WORTH, ci1osen best cultural /historical documentary in
1980; THE BATTLE UF WESTLANUS, wh~ch won the duPont/Columbi a Award anc the George
Foster Peabody Brcadcasting Award; and KAf.EIDOSCOPE with a total of six national and
regional awards including an Emmy nomination; and a tota·1 of six national aoo regional
awards including an Emmy nomination; and
WHEREAS, KTEH is in great Med of local financial supoort to continue its service
to our COtllllunity~ a need more critical than ever before; and
WHrnEAS, KTEH is to benefit from the premiere showing of the movie, 11ANNIE'", on
June 17, 1982.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby recor."mends to all cit 1 zens that they 11 adopt• K TEH and support the "ANNIE"
premiere benefit.
