RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF TH[ CITY tF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING CONGRATULATlONS TO THE CITY OF OAXACA, OAXACA, t-EXICO
ON THE OCCASION OF THElk 450TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, the C1ty of Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico was procla~med a City by order of
King Carlos V of Spain in 1532; and
WHEREAS, succeeding generations of Oaxacans built an em1nant City of fine Spanish
architecture; and
ltlHEREAS, the City of Oaxaca has enjoyed a rich and colorful history, for more
than 450 years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto, through its Sister-City relationship has become a
part ~f the Oaxacan tradition; a~d
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has sent a delegation that includes the Mayor, the
Vice Mayor, Neighbors Abro~d members and Palo Alto youths to pa~ticipate in this great
event; c;.nd
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to extend to the City of Oaxaca our best
wishes.
NOW, TiiEREFOR~. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby records its congratulath.n!. and idmiration, as well as the best wislies of the
City of Palo Alto, on the occasion of Oaxaca's 450th Anniversary celebration.
