HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6020• • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION 6020 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO RECOGNIZING THE CXJTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE 1981-82 PALO ALTO HIGH SCHOCl. GIRLS' SOCCEk TEAM WHEREAS, the Palo Alto High School Girls' Soccer Team has established a winning tk·adition by capturing the Santa Clara Valley Athietes League title three years in a row; and WHEREAS, they have established themselves as one of the best soccer teams ever in the hi story Jf the Sant.a Clara Val 1 ey Athletic League maid ng it to the Central Coast Section Soccer Tournament the past four years and fi ni shi ng w1 th a 19-0-2 season record; and WHEREAS, they won this year 1 s Central Coast Section Region al Play-off defeatirig Los Gatos 5-0; and WHEREAS, they won the Holiday tournament defeating Lynbrook 1-0 in the final game; and WHEREAS, they culminated their hard work and dedication by tying S.aratoga High School for the Central Coast Sectior. Title after playing 100 minutes of soccer in the tit 1 e game; and WHEREAS, they are the first girls scccer team ever in Palo Alto High School hi story to win U e Central Coast Sec ti on Tour"lament;. and WHEREAS, a member of the soccer team, Shelia Jack, was named to the McDonald All Am~rican Team for her outstanding contr;bution. NOW, THEREFOP.E, Bf ~ T RE SOL YEO , th at the Counc 11 of the City of Palo Al to does resolve as follows: Section 1. That the Council recognizes the achievements of the Pa 1 o Al to Hi gh ~-:hool Gi rl!i1 Soccer Team, particulary its success in winning a share of th':! Central Coast Sect1 on Tournament Champ1 onshi p and fi n1 shi ng undefeated with a 19-0-2 seascn record. Section 2. That the Council, on behalf of the people of Palo Al to, express the hard1est congratulatio11s to the Palo Alto High School Girls' Soccer Team for an outstand1 ng season and wishes the team eNery success in repeating as Central Coast Section Champions next year.
