CifY OP PALO ALTO DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL EL~CTION A~~D ON TUESDAY, MARCH 30, 1982 WHERCAS, on March 30, 1982, a special election was duly held in the City of Palo Alto pursuant to the provisions of Ar,icle III, Sec- tion 4, and Article VI, Section 2, (Initiative) of the Palo Alto Char- ter foe cne purpose of placing befo~e the ~?ters of Palo Alto ~easure •A,• an initiative ordinance seeking to amend Section 18.08.040 of ~he Palo Alto Municipal Code (the Zoning Map) to change the claasification of certain properties near California Avenue and Park Boulevard from CC (Community Commer~ial) to RM-3 ( Moderat\;: Density Multiple-Family Res.:.- dence District) and amend the Palo Alto Com~rehensive Plan Land Use Map to change the clasoification of these sar.te properties from Regional/ Community Commercial to Multiple-Family Ree!dential: and WHEREAS, due and legal notice of said special election was given as required by law1 and - WBEREA..~, on the 30th day of March, 1982, at the hour of 7:00 in the morning of said day the polls were duly and regularly opened for said speci;,l election and said polls were continuously .kept open for said purpo~e from the time they were so opened until 8:00 in the even- ing of said aay1 and WGEREAS, on April S, 1982, the Council of the City of Palo Alto met at its usual place of meeting and in accordance with Palo Al to Municipal Code Section 2.40.020 did then anc there canvass the returns of said special election and declare the results theceof; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council finds an~ declares that: (a) A special election was duly and regularly held on March 30, 1982, in all things according to the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, Resolution No. 5980 and the ele~tion laws of the State of California: ( b) The whole number of votes cast in the City at said special election for the purpose of considering MEASURE •A,• including those cast upon absentee ballots, ~as 7481; and (c) The total number of votes given and cast for MEASURE •A• at said special election, including votes cab_ upon absentee ballots was as follows: For the Ord1nance: Against the Ordinance: 2195 5286 SECTION 2. Attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit •A• is tne stateaent of the results as required by Section 22933 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
