RlSOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~ALO ALTO
lXPRE~SING ITS APPRECIATION TO
ADLAI E.. STEVENSON HOUSE
FOR THEIR FOURTEEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO
SE~IOR CITIZENS IN THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS. there are many senior citizens who live in the City of

WHEREAS, Adlai E. Stevenson House was the first senior housing Jf
its kind in Palo Alto a~~ was a pioneer in implementing the provisions
of Sect1011 202 of the H ;;ing Act of 1959; and
WHEREAS, the lives of senior citizens are adversely affected by
the ever-increasing cost of living and the lack of services and
facilities for senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, Adlai E. Stevenson House hds demonstrated the value and
vitality to be found in an active living center for the elderly; and
WHEREAS,

WHEREAS, in order to mee.t the senior citizens' housing needs,
Adlai E. Stevenson House has kept rents low so that all residents can
live on their income with pride and diynity;
NOW, THER~FORE SE IT RlSOLVED that ~he Council of the City of Palo
Alto hereby recoynites the outstanding accompli::;hments of Adlai E.
Stevenson house in providing senior citizens in Palo Alto with
except~onal service.
