BOSZA ORIGINAL WHEREAS, Joseph Bosza was employed with the City of Palo Alto in Febru~ry. 1949 as an Assistant Engineer in the Utilities Department; dnd WHEREAS, Joe received a series of promotions culminating in his promotion from Chief Engineer, Electric. to Manager of Engineering on July 2, 1978, in recognition of his performance; and WHEREAS. Joe oversaw the de\'elopment of Palo Alto's electric utility from a single substation system supplying 9,000 customers with a peak systen demand of 9 megawatts to a system which has expanded to ten substations, serving 26,000 cust~ners with a peak demand of 166 megawatts; and WHEREAS, the design of Palo Alto's substations has won awards for its aesthetic qualities and sensitivity to the environment; and WHEREAS, through Joe's leadership, Palo Alto was a pioneer in under- grounding electric distribution lines; and WHEREAS, during Joe 1 s 33 years of service, the Electric Utility has thrived and proven to be of great benefit to the comunity; to wit: • the delivered price of power to the consumers actually decreased by 6~ during this period, and • the contribution to the City's General Fund from the Electric Utility grew from $213,893 to $5,830,904; and WHEREAS, the City Council is proud of his work performance and appreciati1e of his years of dedication. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records its appreciation of the citizens of this cOOJnunity for faithful service rendered to the City and extends Joseph J.
