RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
COMMENDING THE OUTSTANDING PUBLlC SERV!CE Of
ALAN HENDERSON
AS COUNC ILMEMBF.R, VICE MAYOi~ AND MAYOR
WHEREAS, A 1 an Henderson served the City of Pa 1 o Al to as Counc i lmember from
1971-75 and from 1977-81; and
WHEREAS, Alan Henderson served as Vice Mayor of Palo Alto in 1974-75 and in
1978-79; and
WHEREAS, Alan Henderson served as Mayor of Palo Alto for two years. 1979-80
and 1980-81, and a special six months' term July-December 1981; and
WHEREAS, A 1 an Henderson served as Chairman of tht! Counc i1 • s Finance and
Public Works Comnittee in 1973-74, 1974-75, emu i977-79; and
WHEREAS, during his service on the Palo Alto City Council, Alan Henderson
represented the City of Pa1o A1 to at numerous local, State and regional agencies,
including the City-School Liaison Comrdttee, Palo Alto Collmunity Child Care (PACCC),
the Association of Bay Area Governments; the Santa Clara County Intergovernmental
Council, the Inter-City Council and Santa Clara County Airport Land Use Ccmmission
Hearing Board; and
WHEREAS, Alan Henderson served as Palo Alto's Delegate to the South Bay
Dischargers Joint Powers Authority from 1973-1981; and
WH£REASi Alan Henderson as Councilme~ber, Vice Mayor and Mayor of Palo Alto
has given unself1shly of his time and talents to provide effective leadership on
behalf of the total coITTllunity; dnd
wHEREAS, through the efforts and contributions of Alan Henderson, the City
continues to occupy a position of eminence in tenns of the quality of service
provided to its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the meritorious service
of Alan Henderson.
NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby recognizes the outstanding pubiic service of Alan Henderson and records
its appreciation, as well dS the appreciation of the citizens of this COlfrnunity,
for the service and contribution rendered during his term on the Council.
