HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6779r follows: ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 6"""7_7.._9 __ RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO ADOPT1NG A COMPENSATION PLAN FOR CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL (SEIU} AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 6610 AS AMENDED BY RESOUJTION NOS. 6624, 6641, 6685, 6726 AND 6730 The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as SECTION l. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Compensa- tion Plan, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, hereby is adopted for classified personnel effective the beginning of the pay period including May l, 1989. SECTION 2. The Compensation Plan adopted herein shall be administered by the City Manager in accordance with the Merit system Rules and Regulations. ~j!CTION 3. The Compensation Plan shall continue in effect until amended or revoked by the council. SECTION 4. The Director of Finance hereby is au.thori~ed to implement the Compensation Plan adopted herein in her prepara- tion of forthcoming payrolls. She is further authorized to make changes in the titles of employee classifications identified in the Table of Authorized Personnel contained in the 1989-90 budget if such titles have been changed in the compensation Plan. SECTION 5. Resolution No. 6610 as amended by Resolution Nos. 6624, 6641, 6685, 6726 and 6730 as to classified personnel hereby is rescinded. SECTION 6. The Council finds that this is not a project under the california Environmental QUality Act and, therefore,. no environmental impact assessment is necessary. Retirement 1. The City "111 continue the presen't benefH~ under the Public f:mployees• Retirement System l/50th at ag~ 60 fortat1la act. Employees who ret1re and were employed by the City on or before April 1. 1977, and spouses of deceased employees who were employed by the City on or before April 1, 1977, shall continue reductions 1n utility rates. All retired employees and spouses of deceased employees shall also have resfden~ial privileges at City libraries~ refuse disposal area 1 golf course and swfllllfng pools. 2. Effective with the pay per•1od includfng Kay 111 1984, the Cfcy will pay the n. employee's retirement contribution to the Public Eliployees' Rettt'"Ellaent Systelll {PERS). Such pick-up contributions shall be pafd by the City in lieu of employee contributions notwithstanding the fact that such pick~p of contributions aay be desfgnated as employee contributions for purposes of PERS. for purposes of negotiatfon hereafter, the payment by the City of the e11ployee's contribution shall be deemed a 7i adjustllent in salary for the year 'May 1, 1984 thrcugh April 30. 1985. 3.
