RESOLUTION OF THF. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO AMENDING THE ~OMPENSATION PLAN FOR MANAGE-
MENT PERSONNEL AND COUNCIL-APPOINTED OFFICERS
ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 6728 AS AMENDED BY
RESOLUTION NO. 6734 TO MARE CERTAIN CHANGES TO
THE DEPENDENT CARE PROVISIONS IN ORDER TO CON-
FORM WITH CHANGES IN THE IP.TERNAL REVENUE CODE
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Arti-
cle III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Compensation
Plan adopted by Resolution No. 6728 as amended by Resolution No.
6734, is hereby amended as a result of the adoption of the 1988-89
budget.
SECTION 2: The Compensation Plan as adopted by Resolution
No. 6554 hereby is amended as set forth in Cxhibit •A• attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 3: Except as amended herein, all of the terms and
provisions of Resolution No. 6728 as amended by Resolution No.
6734 shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4: The Council finds that this is not a project un-
der the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no
environmental impact assessment is necessary.

4) If the services are provided by a dependent care center, the center
MUst comp1y wfth all state and local laws and must provide care for
•~re than six individuals (other than a resident of the facf1ity).
S) Depende"t care expenses not subllftted under thfs section are eligible
under the Cf ty Dependent Care Assistance Plan. not to exceed an
aggregate total of $5,000 under both plans.
If the full excess benefit refllbur$ement fs not used during the ff seal year,
the difference between the amount used and the maxflllLUI (or pro rate maximum)
may be applied at the emplcyee's option to deferred eClllpensation under the
City Plan(s).
5. Manage11ent Anooal Leave
At the beginning of each ff seal year regular nranagement and confidential
emplo)'f!es will be credited with 40 hours of annual leave which may be taken
as paid time off 11 added to vacation accrual (subject to vacation accrual
li11ftations)li taken as cash or taken as deferred compensation. When time off
f s taken under this provision. l().ahour shift workers will receive one shift
off for each 8 hours charged; 24~hour shift workers wfll receive onP.~alf
shift off for each 8 hours charged. Entitlements ur -er this provf sfon wil 1
be reduced on a pro rate basis for part.1tfme status. or eccordfng to the
nud>er of months in paid status during the fiscal year. Unused balances as
of the end of the ffscal year will be pafd 1n cash unless a different option
as indicated above h elected by the empl QYee.
I. Automobile Expense Allowance
For those e.ployees -.ose duties requf re exclusive use of a Cf t,y autoaobile, the
City Manager (or fn the case of Counc11•appo1nteC: officers. the City ~ounc11) may
authorfze payment of $235 per month f n Heu thereof.
J. Parking fn Civic Center Garage
The City shall provide "'Pl oyees parking privileges in the C1Yfc Center Garage at no cost to such employees.
