RESOLUTION NO. 6753 -------RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO AMF.NDING SECTION 1002 OF THE MERIT SYSTEM
RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING CAUSES FOR
DISCIPLINARY ACTION
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1002 of the Merit System Rules and
Regulations is hereby amended to read as follows:
1002. Causes for disciplinary action. Causes for
disciplinary action against any employee may include, but shall
not be limited to, the following:
(a) Fraud in securing appointment
(b) Inexcusable neglect of duty
(c) Violation of safety rules
(d) Tardiness
(e) Poss~ssion, or under the influence of alcoholic
beverages, non-prescription or unauthorized
narcotics or dangerou& drugs during work hours
(f) Refusal or failure to perform work assigned
(g) Unauthorized soliciting on city property or
during working hours
(h) Unauthorized absence
(i) Conviction of a felony or conviction of a
misdeMeanor involving moral turpitude
(j) Overstaying lunch period or relief
(k) Offensive treatment of the public or other
employee
(1) Falsifying timecard
(m) Disobedience to proper authority
(n) Misuse of cit~~ property
(o) Violation of any of the provisions of these
working rules and regulations or depart~ental
rules and regulations
(p) Falsification of city records
(g) Refusal to take or subscribe to any oath or
affirmation which is required by law in connec-
tion with employment
Cr) Assault
(s) Fighting
(t) Theft
(u) Sleeping on the job
(v) Conflict of interest
(w) Possession or storage of firearms on city
premises or work sites, or in city vehicles,
excluding sworn law enforcement personnel

SECTION 2. The Council finds that this is not a project
under the California Environmental Quality Act, and, therefore, no
environmental impact ass•.~ssr.tent is necessary.
