HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-05-22 Ordinance 4638ORDINANCE NO. ~ ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1999-00 TO ACCEPT A $16,118 GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL AND TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF $16,118 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 28, 1999 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1999-00; and WHEREAS, the California Arts Council has awarded a matching grant of $16,118 to the City of Palo Alto to strengthen the quality and visibility of the exhibition and education program, thereby increasing the audience for the visual arts; and . WHEREAS, the funds necessary to match the grant have been included in the Arts and Culture functional area budget for 1999-00; and WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to accept and expend the grant receipts; and WHEREAS, the additional appropriation of funds is for a one- time expenditure and no future year General Fund ongoing costs are anticipated; and WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to amend the 1999-00 budget as hereinafter set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION J. Grant revenue in the Visual Arts Functional Area of the Community Services Department is increased by Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighteen Dollars ($16,118) for receipt of the California Arts Council Funds. SECTION 2. The sum of $16,118 is hereby appropriated to non- salary expenses in the Visual Arts Functional Area in the Community Services Department. . SECTION 3. This transaction will have no impact on reserves. SECTION 4. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a} of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance. SECTION 5. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds that this is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. SECTION 6. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
