ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO TO
AMEND THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1999-00 TO PROVIDE
AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF $43,000 FOR ADDITIONAL
ADULT CROSSING GUARD SERVICES
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 28,
1999 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1999-00i and
WHEREAS, the need was identified in October 1999 for crossing
guards in the area surrounding Jane Lathrop Stanford, Fairmeadow and
Hoover Schoolsi and
WHEREAS, to address this need the City added four crossing
guards to locations in this area; and
'WHEREAS, the cost of adding the four additional crossing guard
stations is $43,000, which will be added to the existing contract
with All City Management Services, Inc. for crossing guard services,
bringing the total contract amount to $176,OOOi and
WHEREAS, the additional appropriation $43,000 will come
from the General Fund Budget Stabilization Reserve (BSR). Future
year ongoing costs will be included as part of the 2000-~1 Police
Department Proposed Budget.
WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to amend the
1999-00 budget as hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Al to does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION J. The sum of Forty Three Thousand Dollars ($43,000)
is appropriated to the Traffic Services Functional Area in the
Police Department.
SECTION 2. This transaction' will reduce the General Fund
Budget Stabilization Reserve from $20,532,908 to $20,489,908.
SECTION 5. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Al to Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION 6. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that this is not a proj ect under the California Environmental
Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is
necessary.
SECTION 7. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
