HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-09-27 Ordinance 4841ORDINANCE NO. 4841 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2004-05 TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF $150,000 FOR LEGAL CONTRACT ASSISTANCE The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: The Council of the City of Palo Alto finds and determines as follows: A. Pursuant to the provlslons of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 28, 2004 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 2004-05; and B. There is unanticipated need in the level of litigation activities within the City Attorney's Office; and C. An additional appropriation is necessary for additional contract assistance and outside counsel expertise to initiate action to collect unremitted utility users tax from various telephone communication services providers; and D. City Council authorization is needed to amend the 2004-05 budget to make an additional appropriation of $150,000 as hereinafter set forth. The Sum of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,OOO) is hereby appropriated to non-salary expenses in the Consultation and Advisory Functional Area in the City Attorney's Department, and the General Fund Budget Stabilization Reserve is correspondingly reduced. SECTION 3. This transaction will reduce the General Fund Budget Stabilization Reserve from $21,151,986 to $21,001,986. SECTION 4. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a} of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance. SECTION 5. As provided in Section 2.04.330 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
