HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-08-02 Ordinance 4837follows: ORDINANCE NO. 4837 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO ADDING SECTION 2.40.080 TO CHAPTER 2.40 (MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS) OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO LIMITING THE USE OF CITY TITLES IN CITY BALLOT MEASURES The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as SECTION 1. The City Council finds that the following amendment to Chapter 2.40 is necessary to avoid the inference that a particular ballot argument is the official position of the City. SECTION 2. A new Section 2.40.080 is added to Chapter 2.40 of Title 2 (Administrative Code) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code to read as follows: II II II II II II II 2.40.080 No Use of Board or Commission Titles in Ballot Arguments No city board or commission member may use his or her board or commission title when signing a ballot argument for or against an ordinance or measure. If an argument is submitted to the city clerk with such a title in the signature, the title shall be omitted from the ballot argument signature. 1 040902 syn 0091448 SECTION 3. 'This ordinance shall be effective on the thirty-first day after the date of its adoption.
