ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2003-04 TO ACCEPT
A $27,176 GRANT FROM THE STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY FUND AND TO
PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE LIBRARY
DEPARTMENT OF $27,176
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as
follows:
SECTION 1. Findings and Declarations. The C~ty Council
finds and declares as follows:
(a) Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of
the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 16, 2003
did adopt a budget for fiscal year 2003-04; and
(b) The State's Public Library Fund distributes funding through
the State Library to be used by local jurisdictions for any library-
related purpose except building construction; and
(c) The Community Services Department applied for and received
a grant of $27,176 from the State Library's 2003-04 Public Library
Fund, which will be used for supplies, materials, and equipment; and
(e) City Council authorization is needed to amend the 2003-04
budget as hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 2. Grant revenue in the Library Department is
increased by the sum of Twenty Seven Thousand One Hundred Seventy
Six Dollars ($27,176) for receipt of funds from the Public Library
Fund.
SECTION 3. The sum of Twenty Seven Thousand One Hundred
Seventy Six Dollars ($27,176) is appropriated to non-salary expenses
in the Library Department.
SECTION 4. The additional appropriation of funds has no impact
on the Budget Stabilization Reserve and no future year General Fund
ongoing costs are anticipated.
SECTION 5. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION 6. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that this is not a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is
necessary.
SECTION 7. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
