Ordinance Of The Council Of The City Of Palo Alto
Amending The Budget For Fiscal Year 2008-09 To Provide
An Additional Appropriation Of $50,000 Within The Water
Enterprise Fund For Water Conservation Programs.
The Council of the City of Palo to does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo

A. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 Article III of
the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 09, 2008
did adopt a budget for fiscal year 2008-09; and
B. In Deicember 1991, CouncIl approved a MemOrandum of

Council which promoted the 14 Best Management Practices for water
conservation strategies; and
C. In September 2002, Counc approved an MOU with the Santa
Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) to cost-share development and
implementation water conservation programs; and
D. The City of Palo Alto utilities (CPAU) and SCVWD have
partnered over the last seven years to promote and cost-share
water conservation programs for Palo Alto customers; and
E. On September 6, 2007, Council approved a three-year MOU
with SCVWD to continue to promote and cost share water
conservation programs with a maximum cost of $442,715 with CPAU
directly contributing $160,905 each fiscal year for two fiscal
years and $120,905 for the final year; and
F. Due to the statewide drought, customers have responded at

water conservation; and

SECTION 2. The sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) is
hereby appropriated to program and project consulting expense in
the Demand-Side Management Functional Area in the Water Enterprise
Fund.
SECTION 3. The Water Fund Rate
reduced by Fifty Thousand Dollars
Hundred Twelve Thousand Three
($8,112,358) .
Stabilization Reserve is hereby
($50,000) to Eight Million One
Hundred Fifty-Eight Dollars
SECTION 4. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION 5. As provided in Section 2.04.330 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon
adoption.
