ICAL-ACCESS PARKING STRUC~URRS PENDING STAFF STUOY
AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COUNCIL, ANfl DF.CLfl.PINr;
AN EMER<mNCY
The Council of the City of Palo 1\lto does ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the Citv of Palo Alto does find
as follows:
a. Rapid techrioloqical advances in the field of parkinq
of motor vehicles have resulted in the creation of a
number of mechanical devices which have the potential to
greatly increase the number of vehicles that can be parked
on a given area of land.
b. The Downtown Nelqhborhood St."C.dy recc!!'.mends as poJicy
that parkinq requirements for the central business dis-
trict be met "at the lowest cost possible per space

stalled in the City until the potential detrimental

SECTION 2. Beginning with the effective date of this ordi
nance aria until May 31, 1970, or until the earlier effective date

of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
SECTION 3. Because of the facts set forth in Section 1
hereof and in order to protect the public safety, health and
we..:fare, the Council does declare thnt this is an emerqencv
ordinance that sha11· take effect immediately upon its passacre.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meetinq of the
Council of the City of Palo Alto on Monday, the 8th dav of
~D_e_c_e_m~b_e_r~~~' 1969 , and was passed by a four-fifths vote of
all the Councilmen present at the meetinq as follows:
