HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2537-· • • ORIGINAL ORDINANCE NO. 2531 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING CHAPTER 2. 22 OF THE PAI,O ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE (HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION) The Council of the City-of Palo Alto d_oes ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2.22.010 bf the Pa.lo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.22.010 Membership. There is hereby created a human relations commission composed of seven members who are not councilmen, officers or employees of the city, who are residents of the city of Palo Alto, and who shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of a majority of the council." SECTION 2. Section 2.22.020 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.22.020 Term of office. Conunencing January 1, 1970, there shall be· two members whose terms expire December 31, 1970, two members whose terms e~pire December 31, 1971, and three members whose terms shall expire December 31, 1972. Subsequent appointments shall be made for a term of three years, or until their successors are appointed. ~erms · of off ice commence on January ,1. 11 SECTION 3. Section 2.22.030 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.22.030 Offi6e~s meetings ~nd procedures. (1) The conunission shall e.lect one of its meriibers chairman who shall hold-office for one year and uritil his successor is e1~cted unless .·his term as a member of the commission sooner e~pires. · (2) The conµnission shall establish a regular time and place of meeting and shall hold at least one regtilar meetirtg ~ month. Special meetings may be called by the chairman or by any four merabe-rs of the commission upon personal notice being given to all members or-·by written notice being mailed to each member twenty-four hours_ prior to such meeting unle~s such notice requirement is waived in writing. ,. ,.. , (3) . Four of the seven members shall t:on- sti tute a quorum and the affirmative votes of f6ur members ar~ required to take any action. The commission shall, by majority vote, -appoint members of task forces, such task fo:r:ce n:ernbers to be approved by the mayor. Members of the commission mC.::y be appointed as members of a task force~'' -- SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon the expiration of thirty days from its passage.
