AMENDING SECTIONS 10.60.030 /\ND 10.60.140 OP THF.

The Council of ths City of Palo Alto does OFDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 10.60.030 of the Palo Alto ~unicioal --;---
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
~10.60.030 Unlawful parking. It shall be unlawful
for any person to cause, allow, permit or·suffer any
vehicle registered in his name or operated or con
trolled by him to be parked· in any ~arking soace
upon any street or in any city-owned parking lot
within a parking meter zone adjacent to which a park
ing meter· is established:
(1.) For more than the time indicated by oroper
signs placed in such _parking meter zone indicating
the maximum parking time aliowed in such parking
space or any time during which the meter is disolay
ing a signal indicating that that space is illegallv
in use except during the time necessary to set the
said meter to show legal parking and exceoting also
during the time from six p.m. to eight a.m. and on
Sundays and holidays. . _
(2) Whenever a citation has been issued for a
violation of subdivision (1) hereof, and such
standing or parking continues for an additional
period of time eoual to the maximum time allowed in
such park1ng meter zone.,,
SECTION 2. Section 10.60.140 of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code is hereby a~ended to read as follows:
;'10.60.140 Permit parking. {a) , The city manager is
authorized to set aside.any por~ion or all of any
city-owned parking lot for permit parking and to
issu.e -permits therefor as provided_ irt' this section-. -
(b) The maximum number of permits to be
issu~d shall be iifuited tQ a ntimbe~ which the 6ity
-fuanager determines· wi-11 nbt substantiaily impair
_the use-of such lots in the aggregate by non-~ermit
parkers. , _-_ _ __
Jc) 't'he -~ity manager may issue parking-permits
upon application therefor and upon the payment qf a
fee in an amount to be determined by the city manager.

center of the rear bumper in such a manner that it
can be readily identified-· from the rear of the vehicle
for which it is issued._-such permit may contain such

. {e) If any permit is issued fo~ ~ lot uoon·which
there are unmetered spaces, the city.manager may install
signs adja~~nt t6 sudh spaces indicating that thev are
reserved for permit parking only, and the holder of
such a permit properly displayed may park in any such
space 9n the lot, but only in such spa~e, without fur
ther payment or deposit of coins.
(f) -If any permit is issued for a lot upon which
all spaces are metered, the holder of such a permit may
park in any such metered space upon the lot and ·.the
proper display of such permit shall be deemed compliance
with Section 10.60.030.11

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon the
expiration of thfrty days from its passage.
