ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF 'THE CITY OF' PALO:. ALTO
SUSPENDING ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS IN CERTAIN
ZONING DISTRIC,TS PENDING PLANNING -DEPARTMEN'l' STUDY
AND RECO~li>\ENDATIONS TO THE COUNCIL, AND DECLARING

The Councf;l of.: the City of Palo Al to does ORDAIN as fol-
low:=::
,SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto does find
as follows:
<a> ~he Planning Department of the city of Palo Alto
is actiyelv-studving medical uses in the R-J:P and R~4
districts. These studies are being carried out in order
to bring said zoning distrfcts into better conformity with
the development policies of the General __ , Plan consistent
with good planning practice.
(b} · That new construction of medical uses i.n said
. zoning districts would serve to int,erfere ,~i th the afore
mentioned studies arid rezoning and' it is therefore nece'ssary
to suspend construction of new buildings .in the medical use
category in said zoning districts pending· ·completion of th!!;
studies.

SECTION 2. ·:B~gintd .. ng with the effective· date ·o~ this ordi-
nance and until rescinded, but not for more than one hur1dred
twenty days-~.fter 'the .effective date, .,,no building permit shall
be issued for the _construction ~f new structures for medical uses

TJlis ordinance was introduced at a. r~gul'ar meeting. of the
COuncil of the City of Palo Alto on Monday, the 16th day of
·June, 19-~9, and ·was passed by a four-fifths vote of-all the
Councilmen present at the meeting as follows:
AYES: .B~ahrs, Berwald, Comstock, Gallagher; Gullixson, Pearson.
NOES: Dias.
ABSENT: Arnold, Spaeth, Wheatley.
