ORDINANCE NO. 24 98
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PALO ALTO MUNtCIPAL CODE
RELATING TO SPEC !AL ASSESSMENT J.
AND ASSESSMENT BOND PROCEDURES
The. Council of the City of Pa.lo Alto does ordain as fol.lows:
Section 1. Subsection (k) of Section 13.16.150 of the Palo Alto
Muni'Cipal Code is amended to read:
11 (k) Determination of Gross· Square lt,ootage: On or before
May first of each year next succeeding the issuance of the bonds,
the city assessor shall determine from any record·s or other sources
legally available to him the gross number of square feet, based on
exterior measurements, of the floor.; area of each· building or
structure within the boundaries of the parking assessment district,
which is zoned and used for commercial purposes. A complete list
of said square footage figures, set 6p::10si te the assess·or 1 s parcel
numbers to which·they pertain, shall be transm~tted to the city
planning officer. Any references to square footage or ad.justed
square footage hereinafter mentioned shall be deemed to refer to
floor areas in buildings "zoned and used for commercial purposes
as herein provided. 11

Section 2. Subsection ("p) of Section 13.16.150 of said Code is
amended to read:
11 (p) Certification and Filing: . When the report has been
completed, it shall be signed by the city engineer, dated and
filed with the city clerk, on or before May fifteenth of each year."
Section 3. Subse.ction (q) of Section 13.·16.150 of said Code is
amended to read:
11 ( q) Hearing~ . Said report shalt come on regularly for hear
ing by the ·_council at_ it.a re~le.r meeting held on the second
Monday of' June in eacn ye&.r. ' . . .
Section 4. Subsection (u) ·or Sect'ion 13.16 .. 1:,0 of sai.d. Code is
amended to read:

and pursuant to the resolution of intention cited above, in pro
portion to the-adjusted squ_~re -~ootage of floo.:r area of commercial
structures on each parcel of land within the boundaries of said
district, together· with an additional assessme_nt in proportion to
land assessed value for any amount required to pay bond principal
and interestin excess of the proceeds.of the square footage build-
J.ng assessment levied at the maximum ·rate of $ per ad.justed
square foot; Said report. sets forth the amounts proposed to l>e.
levied for the i'iscal year 19 -, upon.the several parcels
of land in the parking assessment district created to pay ·the ·
principal and interest of·the bonds issued in said project, which
report is open to public inspection.
Said report will be heard by the_council at its meeting to.be
held ori the day of June, 19 .> at the hour of seven-thirty
o'clock p.m., council chambers, city-hall, Palo Alto, California,
at which time said council wil:l examine said report and hear all
persons interested therein. -
Any person interested, objecting to the amount of the assess
ment on any parcel-of land owned by him, may file with the city
clerk at or before the hour fixed for ·'hearing, a protest in writing
signed by him, describing the parcel so that it may be identified,
and stating the ground of his protest, and may appear at said hear-
ing and be heard in regard thereto. 11 · .

The above and foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly introduced
at a regular meeting of the Council of the C:ity of 'Palo Alto on Monday,
the 7th day of April, 1969, and was thereaft.er passed at a regular
meeting of the Council of the City of, Palo Al to on Monday, the 21st
day of April , 1969, by the following vote: ·
