ORDINANCE NO. 2486
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING· SECTION 12.16.020 OF
CHAPTER 12.16 OF TITLE 12 OF THE PALO.ALTO
MUNICIPAL CODE BY ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND
UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 11
The Council of the City of Palo Alto, California, does ordain as
follo~s:
WHEREAS, this Council did, on December 2, 1968, adopt its Resolu
tion of Intent.ion No. 4184 to' ~stablish Underground Util1.ty District
No. 11, and appointed the 13th day of January, 1969, at the hour of
7:30 o'clock P .. M. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Palo Alto,
California, as the time and place of hearing protests and receiving
evidence for and against said proposed action and directing notice;
WHEREAS, notice was given of the time and place therein stated
in the manner provided by law, as appears from the affidavits on file
in the office of the City Clerk;
WHEREAS, said matt.er came on regularly for hearing at the time
therein fixed; and
W'dEREAS, all writ~en protests and other written communications
were publicly read at said meeting and evidence duly taken and all
persons desiring to be heard were fully heard;
NOW, TiiEREFORE, IT IS FOUND, DETERMINED and ORDERED, as follows!
1. The public necessity, health and safety require the removal
of poles and overhead lines and associated overhead structures from
that certain area described in said Resolution of' Intention No. 418li.
2. That this Council further finds and determines that such
undergrounding ·is in the general public interest fol:·; all of the fol
lowing reasons·:
Such Uridergrounding wilL avoid or eiiminate· ·an
unusually heavy concentration of overhead distri-
bution facilities; ·
Said streets or roads· .or ri.ghts-of-way are extensively
used by the general public and carry a heavy volume
of pedestrian and vehicular traffic;

or pass through a civic area.
3. That Section 12.16.020 of Chapter 12~16 of Title 12 of the
Palo Alto Municipal Cod2 is amended by adding Subsection (11) thereto,_
said Subsection (11) to read as follows:
11 (11) District No. 11. All lands within Stanford
Industrial Park, reinoval ninety (90) days after completion
and acceptance of the work."
4. The "Underground Utility District Maps" referred to in said
SP.ction 12.16.020 shall be amended to add the area shown on the map
referred to in sa.id Resolution No. 4181.!-.
5. This Ordinance shall become effective upon the expiration
of thirty (30) days from its passage.

The foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly introduced at a
regular meeting o.f the Council of the City of Palo Alto held on the
27th day of January , 1969, and was thereafter at a regular
meeting held on the 10th day' of February
