HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-10-15 Ordinance 4377ORDINANCE NO. 4377 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1996-97 TO RECEIVE OUTSIDE FUNDS FOR THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ART IN PUBLIC PLACES, NUMBER. 18617 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 24, 1996 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1996-97; and WHEREAS, the Public Art Commission (Commission) agreed to help fund two Public Art projects through Capital Improvement Project 18617, Art in Public Places, provided outside funding be sought to support the projects; and WHEREAS, the first project was the replacement of a aural on the old Wiedeman`s Department Store which was destroyed when the property was remodeled for a new business; and WHEREAS, the new business, upon being approached, donated $6,500 towards the cost of the new mural; and WHEREAS, for the second project, the Commission, in partnership with the California Avenue Development Association, agreed to sponsor a competition to commission an art work for California Avenue; and WHEREAS, California Avenue merchants and the California Avenue Development Association have donated $5,700 to date for this project, and may donate further funds in the future; and WHEREAS, City Council authorizat_on is needed to amend the 1996-97 budget as hereinafter set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Revenue in the Capital Improvement General Fund is increased by the sum of Twelve Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($12,200) for the receipt of the donated funds. • s SECTION 2. The sum of Twelve Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($12,200) is hereby appropriated to the Capital Improvement Project 18617, Art in Public Places, and CIP 18617 is correspondingly increased. SECTION 3. This transaction has no impact on reserves. SECTION 4. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance. SECTION 5. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds that this is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. ,UCTIQN _6. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
