HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2470•• ,, I ·I . l· 1 .t . . . ~ • ORIGINAL" ORDINANCE NO. 2470 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAL0 ALTO AMENDING SUBSEC·TION (a) OF' SECTION 10. 64.180 AND ADDING SECTIONS 10.28.050 AND 10.32.040 TO THE PALO ALTO MPNICIPAL CODE REGULATING BICYCLE, VEHICULAR, AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC UPON CERTAIN OVERPASSES, The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: · · SEC-TION 1-. --That s1_1bsection (a) cf Section 10~ 64.180 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to ~ead as 11 10.64.180 Riding bicycles on sidewalks. (a) No person shall ride a bicycle upon any side­ walk in a business district or in any pedestrian under­ pass, or upon any pedestrian overpass, oc upon Em­ barcadero Road or San Antonio Road overpass across Bayshore Freew~y.11 SECTION 2. That a new Section 10.28.050 is added to the Palo Alto Municipal Code to read as follows: "10. 28. 050 · Vehicles :Prohibit;ed -Oregon Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing No person shall operate a vehicle on the Oregon Avenue pedestrian overcrossing across Bayshore Freeway." SECTJ".ON 3. That a new Sec ti on 10. 32. 040 is added to the ~ Palo Alto Municipal Code' to read as':follows: 11 10.320040 Pedestrians Prohibited -Certain Overpasses. No pedestrian shall cross Bayshore Freeway upon Embarcadero Road or San.Antonio-Road Overpass.11 SECTION 4. This proposal waB forwarded to our Headquarters Office in Sacramento. This approval oonstitutes full, author- 1 ty on the part of the City tc proceed with the installation of the nec~ssary signing, evidencing the enforcement provisions for these traffic restrictions. APPROVAL O~ TRAFFIC REGULATIONS An urdinance of the City of Palo Alto, numbered 2470, passed and adopted by the City Council of said City on September 23, 1968, pr".:>vides as follows: No person shall ride a bicycle upon Embarcadero Road or San Antonio Road Overpass across Bayshore· Freeway. No person shall operate a vehicle on the Oregon Avenue pedestrian overcrossing across Bayshore Freeway. 'i'his ordinance has been submitted to the Department of Public Works for approval in accordance with Section 21109 of the Vehicle Code. Bayshore Freeway is State Highway Route 101, as defined by law.
