HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-08-05 Ordinance 4360••• • • ORDINANCE NO. _ 4 360;,_,.__ ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1996-97 TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR SALARY AND BENEFIT INCREASES ASSOCIATED WITH THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BEGINNING JULY 1, 1996 WITH THE PALO ALTO PEACE OFFICERS' ASSOCiATION WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto~ the Council on June 24, 1996 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1996-97; and WHEREAS~ the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Peace Officers' Association (PAPOA) expired on June 30, 1996; and WHEREAS I the City of Palo Alto and PAPOA have completed negotiations for salary and benefit increases for 1996-97; and ~"HEREAS~ additional funding of $23~000 is required, in addition to the app:r·opriation included in the 1996-97 Adopted Budget, to fulfill the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement for 1996-97; and WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to amend the 1996-97 budget as hereinafter set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTIQN l. The sum of Nineteen Thousand Dollars ($19,000)) is hereby appropriated to salaries and benefits in the Functional Area "Requests for Service" and Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000) is hereby appropriated to Non-Salary Expenses in the Functional Area • Investigations and Disp9si tions H in the Police Department. The General Fund Budget Stabilization Reserve is correspondingly reduced by the amount of each appropriation. SECTION 2. This transaction will reduce the Budget Stabilization Reserve from $16,0741782 to $16,051,782 . -----------------------------. . ... • • SECTIQN 3. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance . .s.m:TION 4. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not a project under the California Envirol'l.i~ental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. SECTIQN 5. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto MUnicipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
