ORDINANCE OF THE COTJNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1996-97 TO
PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

M!EREAS: pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June
24, 1996 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1996-37; and
~~EREASr the 1993-94 Capital Improvement Program included the
project "Civic Center Garage Improvements" (CIP 19410) in order to
increase safety and ease of use of the garage; and
WHEREAS, for the final phase of this project, a committee
compo6ed of City of Palo employees and representatives of the
Downtow·n r-1erchants and Chamber of Commerce developed a signage
program to provide direction for both vehicular and pedestrian
traffic; and
W"tiEREAS, the budget for CIP 1941.0 needs to be increased by
$39,000 to fund this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as.
follows:
SECJ'ION ..:... The sum of Thirty-Nine Thousand Dollars {$39,000)
is hereby transferred from the University Avenue Parking Fur.d to
Capital Improvement Project Civic Center Garage Improvements (CIP
19410), and the University Avenue Parking Fund is correspondingly
reduced.
SECTIQ.Ii.....2.~ This transaction will reduce the University Avenue
Parking Pex~it Fund Reserve from $377 1 209 to $338,209.
~CIION 3. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.

SBCTIQN t. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that the enactment of this ordinance is not a project under the
California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no
environmental impact assessment is necessary.
SSCTIQN s. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
