ORDINANCE NO. 4345
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1995-96 TO
RECOGNIZE RECEIPT OF A GRANT FROM THE LIBRARY SERVICES
AND CONSTRUCTION ACT AND PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL
APPROPRIATION FOR THE LIBRARY AUTOMATION CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROvjECT, ~~ER 19418
WHEREAS.. pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June
19, 1995 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1995-96; and
WHEREAS, the Corrrrnuni ty Services De.)artment has received a grant
from the California State Library, funded through the Library
Serv·ices and Construction .~ct; and
WHEREAS, the grant is for the purchase of ccr.:puter workstations
to provide public access to the Internet at Main and Mitchell Park
Libraries; and
WHEREAS~ the Library Automat ion Capital Improvement Project
(CIP 19418) already includes similar type of work; and
WHEREAS, the Library Automation CIP can be increased by $6,000
to reflect the grant received from the California State Library; and
WHEP~, City Council authorization is needed to accept and
expend the grant receipts and increase an appropriation to a capital
improvement project; and
WHEREAS# City Council authorization is needed to amend the
1995-96 budget as hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE~ the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Grant Revenue in the General Fund is increased by
the sum of Six Thousand dollars ($6, ooo) for the receipt of
California Public Library funds.
SECTION 2. The sum of Six Thousand dollars ($6,000) is hereby
appropriated to the Capital Improvement Project Library Automation
(19418) .

SECTION 4. As specified in Section 2.28~080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION s. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that the enactment of this ordinance is not a project under the
California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore~ no
environmental impact assessment is necessary.
SECTION 6. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance s~1all become effective upon adoption.
