HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-03-18 Ordinance 4336• • ORDINANCE NO. 4336 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1995-96 TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP)PROJECT NO. 9509, n60KV BUS TIE BREAKER INSTALLATIONft WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of t~e Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 19, 1995 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1995-96; and WHERE..ZG, on June 20, 1994, Council approved $150~000 in funding for CIP Project No. 9509, "60kV Bus Tie Breaker Installation"; and WHEREAS, installation of the 60kV tie b~·eaker at the Colorado substation is essent iaJ. to ma.~:,,ntaining the reliability of the City's electrical transmission system; and w"HEREAS, unanticipated and required structural and electrical design changes to i~stall the 60kV tie breaker have been discovered; and WHEREAS, additional funding of $100,000 is requested for strJctural changes necessary to accommodate the 60kV breaker, to ensure seismic restraint requirements~ and to provide an electrical relaying and protection investigation; and WHEF..EAS, Council authorization is needed to amend the 1995-96 budget, as hereinafter set forth NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows~ Section 1. The sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) is hereby transferred from the Electric Fund's Rate Stabilization Reserve to the appropriation for Capital Improvement Project Number 9509,~6okv Bus Tie Breaker Installation," reducing the Electric Fund Rate Stabilization Reserve by One Hundred Thousand Dollars($100,000). • • SECTION 2. This transaction will reduce the Electric Rate Stabilization Reserve from $25.208,000 to $25,108,000~ SECTION l. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance~ SECIIQN 4. This project has been determined to be categorically exempt under SecLion 15302 of the California Environmental Quality Act. seCIIOH 5. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
