ORDINANCE OF THE-COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMEIID!NG CHAPTER 16. 20 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAi.
CODE_(SlGNS) PERMIITlNG COMBINED 'SIGNS ON BUILDINGS
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as
follows: -
ORIC~INAL
SECTION 1. ·chapter 16.20 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code
is hereby amended to add a sec.tion 16. 20. 0.55 to read as
follows:
11 16.20.055 Master sign permit. The term "master
sign pemit" shall mean a permit issue.~ for the pur
pose of allowing the "occupants of a building to combine
the total lawful sign coverage into one ··or more lawful
signs for the purpose of naming,. designating, or identi
fying the busine~ses, enterprises, or callings therein
collectively. ·No such permit shall be issued exce_pt
to the owner or owners of the building, or to a lessee
or tenant occupying the entire building, with the con
sent of the owner or owners. A master sign permit shall
designate the location and size of all signs to b'.!.
placed on the building. The issuance of such a permit
shaTl not be·· construed ~as--au exemption from the pe.nnit ·
fees and other requirements of Section 16.20.050."
SECTION 2. Section 16.20.090 of the ·Palo Alto Municipal
, Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"16.20.090 Signs for adve~tisinf purposes. Unless
otherwise expressly provided in th s .chapte,r, no sign
shall be erected or used for adverti~it!.g purposes of
any kind except ~uch signs as shall be located on a
place of business, enterprise or calling and _used
solely for naming, designating or. identifying said
busi..ness, enterprise -or calling. · No sign shall ad•
vertise or display the·make;'brand name or manu
facturer's name of 'any.product,.article or service
