thE' Chief or Police shall 1ssue a permit to the appl1.1:ant which
sb,ll bear the.name and photograph of the applicant together with
tbe number. of the>perm1tt date of expirat1.on of said permit and
tb~. name o"f the owner 1'01" wh:toh said driver 1s authorized to operat~ a ven1cle defined in Section 11.l.L. Such permit shall be
malled to. the owne.I' named therein zrn.d e.hall be valid only so long
as said ·dri ve:r" continues in the employ of' such owneI·.

At the time of: filing the written application :f'·~r a driver's
permit_. unde·r Sectiox1 ll.32, the applicant may apply fer a tempo-
r~· permit, not. to ex.ceed thirty days. 'l'he issuance of such te.m
po!.~ary perm1 t shall . be within the discretion of the Chief of Police
anc~ shall not be issued unless the applicant turn:1sht?S writ.ten.

DIV!SJ:ON 4 -TAXICABS
. a.. The taxicabs of eve1•;y owner operating a taJ~icab in the
C1t.y· of. Palo· Alto sha'll be· of a color scheme and bear the owner's
trade.name, monogram or 1ns1gnia which are clearly and easily d1s
t1ngu1sbable .fr:.om tbe color sc:heme, owner's trade m;;1rk, monogram
or, 1risign1a use·a; on the· taxiclibs or any other owners already oper
ating under th.is ai.,t!cle.. No change whatever 1n the· color scheme
or d1st1ng\.11sh1ng characteristics of any tex.icab shall be made
without :wri tte.n permissi(>n frf.>m the Chief" of Police, and it shall
oe unlaw~u+ tor any person so1!o1t1ng patronage from any vehicle
described 1n ·:this article to J~ep:resent by word, s1gr1 or insignia
that tbe l\ieh:icle for which he 1s soliciting such patronage 1s a
vehic\ls owned or operated by <>ther than the actual ett'lners ..
