ORDINANCE NO. 4443
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1997-98 TO ACCEPT
A GRANT ANI) TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR
THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO RECEIVE MATCHING
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE ARTS COUNCIL OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June
23, 1997 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1997-98; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Council of Santa Clara provides funding in
support of the arts; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Department has been awarded an
Arts Council matching grant in the amount of $5,247 for exhibitions,
and for general operating support in order to provide exhibition
opportunities for the area's emerging artists; and
WHEREAS, the 1997-98 budget includes the funds necessary
match the grant; and
WHEREAS, City Council authorization
expend the grant receipts; and
WHEREAS, City Council authorization
1997-98 budget as hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the

SECTION 1. The sum of Five Thousand Two Hundred Forty Seven
Dollars ($5,247) is hereby appropriated to non -salary expenses in
the Functional Area Arts and Culture in the Community Services
Department, and Grant Revenue is correspondingly increased.
SECTION 2. This transaction will have no impact on
reserves.
SECTION 3. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION 4. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby
finds that this is not a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is
necessary.
SECTION 5. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption.
