ORDINANCE NO. 4442
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1997-98 TO ACCEPT
A GRANT AND TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR
THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO RECEIVE MATCHING
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June
23, 1997 did adopt a budget. for fiscal year 1997-98; and
WHEREAS. L. National Endowment

WHEREAS, the _ommuni`y Services Department has been awarded an
Arts Council matching grant in the amount of $10,000 for an
exhibition, which is a 30 -year retrospective of one of American
craft's foremost master artists Dominic Di Mare; and
WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to accept and
expend the grant receipts; and
WHEREAS, City Council authorization 'is needed to amend the
1997-98 budget as hereinafter set forth.
WHEREAS, the 1997-98 budget includes the funds necessary to
match the grant; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SE+CTION 1. The sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) is
hereby appropriated to non -salary expenses in the Functional Area
Arts and Culture in the Community Services Department, and Grant
Revenue is correspondingly increased.
SECTION 2. This transaction will have no impact on
reserves.
SECTION 3, As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo
Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is
required to adopt this ordinance.
